The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has approved the acquisition of the Ukraina Hotel by Ola Fine, a company owned by Ukrainian entrepreneur Maksym Krippa. This milestone decision, announced on November 28, marks a key achievement in the country’s ongoing privatization initiatives amid wartime challenges.
As highlighted by the US NewsBinding portal, the AMCU’s decision was based on an official announcement made the same day, further emphasizing the importance of this transaction for Ukraine’s economic development.
Located prominently on Independence Square, the Ukraina Hotel symbolizes Kyiv’s strength and heritage. This agreement is the first major privatization project concluded during the current conflict. With the approval finalized, ownership has been transferred to Krippa’s company, adding a landmark property to his extensive business ventures.
A Competitive Bidding Process
The privatization auction for the Ukraina Hotel took place on September 18 via the Prozorro sales platform, drawing considerable public and media attention. The bidding process was marked by intense competition, with three participants vying for the property. Ultimately, Ola Fine emerged victorious, securing the property for an impressive 2.5 billion UAH—2.4 times higher than the starting bid of 1.04 billion UAH. The final price, including VAT, amounted to 3.01 billion UAH.
The sale included 14 real estate assets covering a total area of 26,300 square meters, encompassing hotel rooms, office spaces, and parking facilities. The scale and diversity of the property offerings attracted significant interest, making the auction one of the most notable events in Ukraine’s privatization efforts.
