Three Stages Of Objectives For Team-Building Events

Team-Building

It is important to have your employees work towards goals that will benefit the company and help make it successful. To build cohesive teams, many companies organise activities to help employees learn to work together. There are three stages of objectives that companies should strive to achieve when having employees participate in team-building events.

Stage One: Team Formation Objectives

During the team formation stage, the team-building activities are designed for employees to get to know one another and start thinking of each other as a team. They will begin to come together as a team and create their team culture. Part of developing their culture is to establish acceptable behaviours, clarify their values, and form a positive atmosphere for the team or department. It’s important that members start coming together to achieve objectives and goals that benefit both the team and the company.

Stage Two: Brainstorming Objectives

When the objectives from the first stage are achieved, including establishing a team leader, then the team can move onto brainstorming. During this stage, the team works together to develop processes for building communication among each other, create problem-solving solutions, and generate new ideas for their departments and the company.

Everyone in the team will work with each other, both as a group and one-on-one, to develop relationships and learn to work cohesively to achieve their goals. Team members will also establish short-term goals for the team and determine how achievements should be celebrated.

Stage Three: Team Normalisation

After achieving the objectives in stage two, the team should have become closer and started to work well together. During this stage, the team will learn new skills so members can take on more responsibilities both as a team and individually.

The team processes will be modified to allow for more responsibilities to be undertaken and members will take turns in leadership positions for projects. In addition, the members will develop their team’s goals.

Overall Objective

The overall objective of these stages is to develop teams that perform at high levels to help their companies achieve their goals. Many of these objectives can begin to be achieved in a short amount of time when employees participate in team-building events. There are many corporate event ideas from which to choose that can start the process of building high-performing teams.

The process needs to continue at work by taking the ideas that the teams developed at their events and applying them to work situations. Those that work can be adopted permanently and those that don’t work can be adapted as needed. Along with developing teams that perform at a high level, the team-building events can identify employees who have leadership abilities.

Corporate team-building events can take place over one day or an entire weekend. There are events designed for company executives as well as regular employees to help them bond. These bonding experiences are a good way for management to find out more about their employees as well as help them come together for the sake of their businesses.
